Early Learning Frameworks

Where knowledge is fun and dynamic. Give your child the best educational experience at Bridge Road ELC’s exceptional early learning framework.

Learning Philosophy

Children grow, learn and develop through play and interactions with others and their environment. At Bridge Road, we provide a holistic, friendly, and safe learning environment that aligns with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework.

Each child is supported by experienced and qualified educators whose primary goal is to guide them towards transitioning into primary school. We believe in celebrating independence and individuality among our students and providing them with opportunities to explore all possibilities.

Quality education begins with ensuring your child is comfortable in their learning environment. At Bridge Road ELC, we prioritise making the centre an extension of the home, allowing your child to play, learn, and develop lifelong skills that are critical to their future.

“If you keep your eyes open enough, oh, the stuff you will learn. Oh, the most wonderful stuff.”
Dr Seuss

Inspiring Early Learning Excellence

Early years learning is a critical aspect of a child’s cognitive, language, and social development. At Bridge Road ELC, we understand the importance of laying the right foundations and fostering the right attitude to learning in children. Our play-based programs are designed to be both fun and educational, nurturing your child’s inquisitive nature as a foundation for long-term academic success.

Your child will enjoy being introduced to the following subjects at our early learning centre:

  • Numeracy
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM)
  • Literacy
  • Cognitive Development
  • Expressive Arts
  • Social and Emotional Awareness
  • Physical Development

Our school is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and follows the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standard in our curriculum development. Learn more about our curriculum below.

Bridge Road Families

Being a parent of Bridge Road Early Learning Centre means becoming part of our special community. You’ll join a thriving community in the heart of Richmond where camaraderie and lasting friendships are formed.

Our families naturally come together through parent-led initiatives, social catch-ups, and shared experiences that go beyond the daily drop-off. All parents share a common goal of investing in their child’s future and support one another through like-minded connection and collaboration.

Aboriginal Ways of Learning

At Bridge Road Early Learning Centre, we recognise that every child is born into a rich cultural environment — shaped not only by traditional practices, heritage, and ancestral knowledge, but also by the unique experiences, values, and beliefs of their families and communities.

We believe that embracing and celebrating diversity is an essential part of a high-quality early learning experience. Our programs are inclusive, respectful, and reflective of the many cultures that enrich our community.

Bridge Road ELC is proud to actively promote and embed Aboriginal culture ways of being and visual representation throughout our curriculum. We are deeply committed to reconciliation and to honouring Australia’s First Nations peoples by sharing their histories, knowledge systems, languages, and stories with the next generation.

We’re honoured to partner with Uncle Ian Hunter, whose presence and contributions — including Welcome to Country ceremonies, Smoking Ceremonies, and cultural storytelling — bring depth, authenticity, and meaning to our learning environment.

Each of our learning spaces is named using local Aboriginal language, with names thoughtfully chosen to reflect the children’s developmental stages. Our children play and learn on Country in Biik – Jornung, meaning “a pleasant place,” connecting them to the land and the culture in a meaningful and respectful way.
